REGIONAL HEALTH CARE

Taking care of Dad this past summer once he learned he was dying was a sudden high impact opportunity to learn about how our health care system works today both in and out of the hospital. Dad asked to go home to die and we said yes. As a family we appreciated the support that we were able to have. I will work to find more ways for people to die in the environment they choose without it being a burden on the family. Dad really appreciated that he could tell us not to wake him up until noon and he could get the doctor to prescribe medication that was slow release. On the other hand I also learned of areas in the care provided that can be improved, all at a cost that is way less than that of being in the hospital.
